This section is solely dedicated to providing educational and informational knowledge of basic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) terminology and treatment methods for the benefit of those seeking TCM treatment. It is our belief that patients need a better understanding of TCM theory in order to have confidence in undergoing such a course of treatment.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) evolved from a rich history of over two thousand years of empirical knowledge and practical experience. Similar to the Chinese written language, TCM employs relatively simple terminology to express complex and multifaceted concepts. TCM is not only practiced in China, but worldwide. The introduction of TCM to the United States has a history of only a few decades. From a completely unregulated environment to the establishment of Acupuncture and TCM law on both a state by state and national basis, the road to general acceptance by both the medical community and the public at large has not been an easy one. The current emphasis in the development of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China is to support empirical knowledge and practical experience with systematic scientific research. Extracts from a sampling of published studies researching the efficacy of Acupuncture and TCM over the last 50 years are available for reference on this website, which may prove helpful for those patients who are seeking TCM treatment as well as medical doctors interested in broadening their knowledge in the field of TCM.
